To-Do Tuesday, March 14, 2023

The weather keeps jumping all over the place! Today we had several times of heavy snow, then sunny skies, and back to the snow, and then repeat it all over again, then even a few minutes of sleet mixed in! It was a good day to stay in and work on quilting projects!

And here is what happened this previous week -

To-Do Tuesday, March 7, 2023

  1. Celebrate birthdays! ✔️
  2. Work on daughter’s house. The project that keeps going on and on! ✔️
  3. Finish Dancing Star quilt top. ✔️
  4. Evening stitching Featherweight. ✔️
  5. Friends from TN are to visit next week, (Sunday-Saturday) prep for their arrival! ✔️
1. Saturday for hubby’s birthday I made lemon bars as he loves anything lemon, and marinated steak which he grilled for supper. We added a salad and he was a happy fella. During the day he volunteered at the Orchid Society booth at the Home & Garden Show. He said he had a great time talking to folks about caring for Orchids.
Tuesday was my birthday and Hubs asked what I wanted to do.  I said I’d like Chinese food for lunch or dinner and to go see the Jesus Revolution movie. So that’s what we did. If you go to see that movie I recommend watching Alisa Childers’ YouTube Let’s Talk About Jesus Revolution after you see the movie. Lots of further info was shared and I enjoyed both, the movie and her interview with Chuck Girard. Go take a listen, I’ll not give away any spoilers!
2. Plumbing and electric are almost ready for inspection. Getting those inspected and passed will be a  big accomplishment.
3. Dancing Star quilt top
The top is completed with set triangles and a 3″ border for a top that is 41″ square.
4. Featherweight embroidery
The machine and pincushion are completed and moved on to the quilt.
5. Our friends arrived safely from TN Sunday evening.
And I got flowers! Ruth attended a birthday party where each guest created her own flower arrangement and she gave it to me!
Ruth’s Mom, Janie, is working on her first quilt. Trip Around the World. This is the first half of the quilt she pieced in September. She’s back to piece the second half. Hope to have a photo for next week.
Other things happened in my sewing room this past week. I was digging for a kit and came across a long forgotten one. So I stitched it (and a few more) together.
This was from a class I taught at a quilt retreat in 2010! The table runners are 13″ wide  x 34 1/2″ long.
There was fabric along with the kit, so I cut out three more table runners and got them all stitched up. I have backs and batting ready for the runners too.  And a bit of leftover fabric that will become mug rugs.
I also found leftover HST that I turned into QST and added to the sides of a sailboat panel. Top is 32 1/2″ wide by 43 3/4″ long.
My pile of finished tops for charity and gift giving is growing!
Today as my friend works on her Trip Around the World, I’ve been cutting fabric for more charity quilts.
I cut 42 – 4 1/4″ squares from the fox fabric to coordinate with the dot fabric.
I’ll use the Moda Brighten Up Charm Pack for another charm-pack-challenge quilt.
The top fox fabric I cut at 5 1/2″ to coordinate with the green dot fabric. There are 4 more coordinating fabrics not show in the photo from the Fat Quarter pack.
The owl print is cut at 4 1/2″ to coordinate with the brown dot fabric.
That’s it for this week! What are you sewing up this week?

To-Do Tuesday, March 14, 2023

  1. Got to keep plugging away on daughter’s house.
  2. Stitch up some charity quilts or keep cutting?
  3. If my friend gets her quilt top finished we might be visiting another friend who will let us quilt the top on her longarm.
  4. Featherweight embroidery.

What a productive week you had, in spite of friends’ arrival and working on your daughter’s house! Happy birthday, and yours sounds like a fun one. We want to see that movie too. I wish my Hubs liked lemon that much – I’d be in heaven – lol!

Lemon squares are the best! :) . I hope you are taking some time to enjoy your guests, a break from renos while waiting for inspections and all of your lovely projects.
