It's a basic sewing project that I should have done long before now!), so I don't think I'd have any good advice for you. My first, inexperienced, thought is that the pillow back might be slightly stretchy and that would give some room to make the pillow front without the extra border?? I actually have making pillows on my to-make list for the Oregon house, I just am not sure when I'll get to them. I will be learning about what to do in this situation vicariously through you!
