My parents and grandparents cooked just about everything in cast iron. I shied away from it, going for the non-stick stuff. I think I'm missing out though, because my food sure doesn't taste anywhere near as good as Grandma's or Mom's! I see cast iron in thrift shops a lot, I might get a pan or two the next time I'm there and start using them. Those scones look delish, btw!

When I first saw your photo, I thought they were like the children's cast iron set I used to own.
We do own several skillets and a dutch oven. I'm sure there's more around here. I really like cooking stew in the dutch oven, and using the lid near the end of cooking for baking the biscuits. My Grandma always did that, so I assume it was fairly common.
Now I'll have to get a scone pan. Our local sporting goods store carries a huge range of cast iron, perhaps they'll have that scone pan.
I cannot wait to see your finished projects! I don't know about you, but I do happy dances when I complete a project. ;)
